Midnight blue and as big as my whole palm. It could no longer fly- the heat of the pavement was probably not helping.

Gochiso-sama!

Etiquette lesson: When someone puts food like this in front of you, what else can you say but, wow, what an incredible treat! Which is exactly what "Gochiso-sama-desu!!" means. You say it after every meal, to compliment the chef, and whenever you have the chance to sample something special, and it carries with it the understanding that being indulged with beautiful treats is a particularly great way to appreciate life, especially when you share them with good company!

Tonight I'm in Shinozaki visiting with Sonoko-san, my former japanese sensei at UMaine, and her parents. They've ordered in this sushi expo and I can hardly believe my eyes - it is the most exquisite looking food I have seen since I've been in Japan, and that is saying a lot!

Itadakimasu!!!
